And now I leave you with the mental image of a baffled Starscream watching Megatron knit an energon cozy out of metal wire.

Title: This Is Me For Forever Date/Theme: Oct. 12 'Into the valley of dying stars' Series: G1 Transformers Characters: Galvatron AU: What if Unicron had won? Rating: G
Warning: I've seen the movie all of once and season three never. Plus, I've been blasting "Nemo" by Nightwish for pretty much the entire time I worked on this. That was one of the songs I was playing when I wrote the Skyfire/Astrotrain oddity, so fair warning.

Well, I should be studying for chemistry. There's just something about effective nucleur charges that fails to capture my interest, though. Also, I'm hyped on "Nemo" by Nightwish. This will become terribly obvious when you read tonight's 31_days drabble.
NaNoWriMo is next month, as I'm sure you all well know. I won't be participating - if I slam out a novel in a month, that's time that could have been spent studying. Or writing essays. Especially writing essays. Rargh.
However, just wanted to share this article on the subject. 'Tis quite funny.
And now, back to chemistry and messing around with Daz|Studio. Human!Poli will have higher cheekbones, oh yes, she will...

| Why Starscream? |
06:09 pm |
Upon watching the majority of the first two seasons and the movie of G1 Transformers, I am left with a very important question. Namely, what do people see in Starscream? Why does he get zillions of fangirls? Please enlighten me, flist, as to what the attraction is.
In other news, new DAoC expansion coming out next week! With new stuff for 50s to do! Finally, Maliar has something to do besides sew!

06:13 pm |
I am seriously reconsidering my policy of never friends-locking a journal entry. I always figured that if I had anything to say specifically about someone on my flist, it would be something that I needed to get in the air.
As it is, how do you say that you've become so wrapped up in a person that their opinion of your writing is intensely important and when they don't like it, your ego curls up and dies without getting them to stop giving you the unvarnished truth about what you write?
In other news, Drag Strip ambushed me and is forcing me to write a story about him. Whee...

Title: Fall of the Peacemaker Date/Theme: Oct. 1 'A screaming comes across the sky' Series: G1 Transformers Characters: Skyfire, Astrotrain, Blitzwing, Aerialbots AU: What if Skyfire had stayed with the Decepticons Rating: PG

| Anything and Everything Under the Sun |
04:01 pm |
Went home to Metairie last night. I really love driving down the highway at night; I don't focus as much on what's behind me, I don't need to wear sunglasses to avoid hurting my eyes, and I can find a nice comfortable speed to keep up.
Metairie's coming to life again. There's a lot of debris waiting for pickup, but there's also tons of "Now Open!" signs sprouting up from the medians. People are buckling down and rebuilding.
Put my car in the shop, so the 'Check Engine' light can be dealt with. Don't know when I'll get her back, but I won't have her for this upcoming week. Yay, get to pester Danny to take me places if I want to go anywhere.
Drove up to Slidell today to spend time with my grandmother. We took I-10 through the city, then US 11 across Lake Ponchatrain to get there. The Twinspan is still down and all. Access into New Orleans is still controlled - any exits they don't want you to get off at have a patrol car sitting there and cops ready to tell you that no, you can't go that way.
New Orleans looks bad, but not as awful as southern Slidell. There's nothing quite like driving by piles of debris and knowing that they used to be the buildings across the street.
As near as I can tell, any divine message that can be interpretted from the hurricanes would go something along the lines of: "Don't build anything you'd miss on the beachfront."
I'm afraid I can't really be any more eloquent about the devastation - the main image I have right now is driving down US 11 and seeing the piles of debris and the numbers on the houses that show they've been searched by whoever does that sort of thing.
In other news, I need to get up the third part of "All Fall Down" today, then write up today's 31_days ficbit. Spend some time converting image packs into brush tips, so that I can start making icons again sometime soon. Rip CDs. Hang out on messenger services. Type up some stuff that I've written out long-hand during class. Basic computer geekery.
Also, what does it say about me that the most erotic mental image I've had lately is, well, this:
She planted her hands against the cool wall, keeping her back as straight as possible. He ran his hand down her spine clinically, noting the length and health of the nearby tissues. Then he laid the scalpel where she directed and cut away the skin over her shoulder blades. He reported on the status of her muscles as compared to the Seeker they had dissected.
He pinned the skin back, both to keep it out of the way and as a careful reminder that this experiment would not succeed if she healed herself. Then he took up another knife and began to peel back her muscles.
Now the mental image had soft, dim lighting, a backstory as to who these people were, and slow, sensuous movements as the knife cut into her skin.

| Medical Thrillers with Transformers |
01:46 pm |
Watched the first four episodes of House last night. Excellent, excellent show, and House is so my new tv boyfriend. (Blitzwing still has a special place in my heart, but he's violent and insane rather than snarky and impatient with stupid people.) I've got four more episodes to watch before I have to return the DVD. Good, good times.
However, since my brain inevitably revolves around Transformers, I found myself daydreaming about medical thrillers involving Transformers before I fell asleep. The problem wasn't mere battle damage to be repaired, no, or even the imbibing of various poisonous chemicals. No, instead both Autobots and Decepticons were afflicted with a virus, slowly breaking down their code.
Since I couldn't think of how the hell who got it got infected, there was a minor subplot over what the infection vector was. We did practice quarantine procedures by not allowing the infected to interface with anything, up to and including providing us with direct readings from their damage control computers. (Which annoyed the medical team, since that could have given them a pile of data, but they did understand that getting infected themselves would be bad.)
The 'we' I keep using would be our allied medical team: Ratchet, Klank, Wheeljack, and Heretic. (Lord alone knows why the Constructicons aren't involved in this, or why I dragged someone else's OC in.) Support staff includes Soundwave and Blaster as data-analyzers.
To be fair to Heretic and the canons, her job is mostly to keep Ratchet and Klank from killing each other and to smooth along the process of developing a counter-virus.
Fell asleep before I could find out how everything ended. Made me very sad.
Analyzing it the next day, I do like the quarantine methods I devised. However, the virus still bugs me. On the one hand, if a virus has an 'incubation' period, it's conceivable that it could spread pretty fast, especially if the first victim is someone who has to transfer a lot of data on and off of himself. On the other hand, to a Transformer, a virus is pretty definitely an outside attack. How could both sides get infected with the same virus as approximately the same time?
Besides an enemy of both sides, I mean.

| Yayzors! |
06:09 pm |
So, in the middle of my friends gamely putting up with my angry mutterings about what a terrible writer I am*, Mom called and let me know that my E-bay packages arrived at our house. Not the house that I told the Post Office to start sending my mail to, but the house we lived in before Katrina plowed through that part of the world. So, yay, I finally get my miniature Decepticons this weekend! HoC Megs can get out of his box!
Why the post office sent it to that house is beyond me, but what the hey.
Also, should get my comic this week sometime hopefully. Then I shall know the joy of Freud taking on the Al-Qaeda!
... I need more joyful icons besides my default.
*"All Fall Down" has no plausibility and I hate it for that. Rrrgh. Rewrite will be done, because I am prideful enough to not want such a stain on my ability lying around unanswered for.
ETA: More joy! The chemistry quiz I've been killing myself over isn't until next Thursday! I feel so free!

Title: Piecing Together the Rubble Day/Theme: Sept. 26 'Loneliness and desire' Series: Transformers Character/Pairing: Rumble, Reflector Rating: PG
Notes: Takes place post-Great War and pre-Beast Wars. Was originally going to be porn, but the need for exposition outweighed the desire for porn. You may get porn next time I decide to write in this time period, as I'll at least have a "this is what's going" bit to point people at.
Stealing time intervals from Koiverse. A tetrun is the TF equivalent of a week, and a megacycle is the equivalent of an hour.

Title: All Fall Down 2/3 Day/Theme: Sept. 25 'What we had I cannot even say' Series: G1 Transformers Character/Pairing: Stunticons, particularly Motormaster, and Scavenger Rating: PG-13
Author's Notes: Whoo, the rewrite of this into an actual story is going to be interesting. Especially since I won't be writing battle scenes late at night and will actually have time to edit them for sanity. And I won't have to be so damned heavy-handed with the flashbacks.
Oh, and here's Part 1.

09:35 pm |
University closed at 2:30 this afternoon because of Rita. Of course it was pouring down rain then, and of course I decided to walk back to my dorm. Was absolutely soaked when I got back. Yay. Got a call earlier that my parents would feel safer if I stayed up here this weekend. Le sigh.
Monday's classes were cancelled... So, gonna be online all weekend. Degseppers, feel free to get in touch with me. Same with you TFBloggers.
Cirig, wanna do some DAoC this weekend or Monday?
And whee, rain still coming down. Eating noodles for dinner. Mmm, noodles. *drinks broth*
